Applying Orange Peel Textured Paint on products can not only meet the special performance requirements of the products, but also meet the customers' requirements for high decorativeness and complete machine matching of product appearance. However, in the process of spraying Orange Peel Textured Paint, color difference is very easy to occur, which affects the spraying effect. This article introduces the causes of color difference of Orange Peel Textured Paint and the control methods.
Orange Peel Textured Paint
1. Influence of orange peel paint raw materials
In the purchase of Orange Peel Textured Paint, since suppliers are affected by various unstable factors such as raw material supply when producing and formulating different batches of paint, there will be certain color differences even if the same formula is used to color the paint.
2. Influence of Orange Peel Textured Paint construction process
During the orange peel paint application process, the coating's application viscosity, solvent, etc. will have an impact on the color of the coating. Due to climate change, during the orange peel paint application process, the solvent, especially the volatility of the solvent, needs to be adjusted, that is, the solvent formula must be adjusted. The adjusted solvent has different solubility for orange peel paint, and the impact on the paint color is also very obvious.
3. The influence of the size of the Orange Peel Textured Paint pattern
When Orange Peel Textured Paint is sprayed, the size of the orange-grain pattern will be affected by the adjustment of viscosity, the use of orange-grain additives, spraying techniques, changes in spraying air pressure, etc. The size of the orange-grain pattern will also affect the color of the paint layer to a certain extent.
4. Influence of Orange Peel Paint Baking Conditions
The same paint is applied under the same solvent and construction conditions, but different baking conditions will also affect the color of the paint layer. Especially for some color matching parts, due to the different wall thickness of the parts, even if they are baked under the same conditions, the heat of each part is not exactly the same, so the color of the paint layer after drying is not exactly the same.
Orange Peel Textured Paint color difference detection
At present, color difference in China is mainly determined subjectively by human eyes. Color difference is a kind of psychological feeling of human beings, which involves a complex visual psychological process. Humans are very sensitive to color difference. Normal human eyes can distinguish about 10 million different colors, and generally there are about 500,000 recognizable commodity colors. However, due to the large differences in vision, fatigue and subjective tendencies, and the influence of psychology, light source, lighting conditions, background, and sample size on color difference measurement, the results of visual color difference measurement often vary with time, place, person, and conditions. Therefore, to quantitatively identify the size of color difference and determine the degree of difference in each attribute, the ability of vision is not ideal. Therefore, a colorimeter can be used.
A colorimeter is a common photoelectric integral color measuring instrument. It uses the standard light source inside the instrument to illuminate the object being measured, performs an integral measurement in the entire visible light wavelength range, obtains the three stimulus values and chromaticity coordinates of the color of the transmitted or reflected object, and gives the color difference value between the two measured samples through a dedicated microcomputer system. This is an optical analysis instrument that is easy to operate and inexpensive, and is widely used in industrial production, scientific research experiments, quality inspection, commodity inspection and metrology departments.
When measuring color, the colorimeter uses the internationally used CIELAB measurement system, in which L* represents lightness, which varies from bright (L*=100) to dark (L*=0); a* value represents color changes from green (-a*) to red (+a*); and b* value represents color changes from yellow (+b*) to blue (-b*). After using this system, any color can find a corresponding position on the chart, and as L*, a*, b* and E* change, △L*, △a*, △b* and △E* will change accordingly.
The color difference is expressed as the comprehensive difference of △L*, △a* and △b* in three directions, which is represented by △E*ab. The relationship between △E*ab and △L*, △a* and △b* is as follows: △E*ab=[(△L*)2+(△a*)2+(△b*)2]1/2.
The above three parameters representing color, L*, a*, b*, three parameters representing color difference, △L*, △a*, △b*, and comprehensive color difference index △E*ab, etc. can all be measured by a colorimeter. When the measured standard color sample data L*, a*, b* and the set allowable comprehensive color difference index △E*ab (allowable) are consistent, the sample color can be quickly measured and judged whether it is qualified.
